Why the course starts elsewhere
Python files are short. You see one result. Java app projects arrive with several folders and a build robot. That is the right tool for an installable app. It is the wrong first room.
Named early. Used late.
Java is an older widely used Android language.
It still appears in tools and examples. This course names it so the word does not startle you. It still starts with Python. Same beginner altitude as Kotlin: instructions for screens and buttons when Stage 5 arrives.
If an IDE shows Java
Stay with that example. Do not also open a Kotlin tutorial the same night. One language at the altitude of “button changes text.”
Next step
Script vs app is the decoder ring for the rest of the school.
