First editor

nano opens a file so you can type in it.

Start here. Vim is another editor. Power users like it. Beginners usually find it confusing. On many phone keyboards Termux shows an extra row with CTRL.

Practice the save dance

Press the keys in order. Ctrl means the Control key. O is the letter O, for out / write.

Press Ctrl+O to write the file out.

If nano will not close

You skipped a step. Write, confirm the name, then exit. The file is not gone. You are only stuck in the editor.
