F-Droid notes Stuck? Ask the tutor

1. Install F-Droid

Open Chrome or any browser. Go to the official site and download the F-Droid APK. An APK is just the install file. Open it and tap Install. If Android warns you, allow installs from the browser just this once. Open F-Droid and wait. The first load can take a few minutes.

2. Install Termux from F-Droid

Search for Termux inside F-Droid, not Play Store. The Play Store copy is old and causes problems. Install Termux. You can add Termux:API in the same search. Open Termux:API once if you install it.
3. Update the tools

Open Termux. You will see a dark screen and a prompt. That means it is waiting. Type this line, then tap Enter. If it asks [Y/n], type y and press Enter.

pkg update && pkg upgrade

Meaning: refresh the list of add-ons, then update what is already there.
4. Install Python and nano

Python is the first language. nano is a simple typed editor.

pkg install python nano

Meaning: install these two tools inside Termux.
5. Make hello.py and run it

Create a folder, open a file, type three lines, save, then run.

mkdir ~/learn

cd ~/learn

nano hello.py

In nano, type this exactly, including the quotes:

print("Hello from my phone")

Save in nano: Ctrl+O, Enter, then Ctrl+X to leave. On many phone keyboards Termux shows an extra CTRL row.

6. If it works, smile

That was real coding. The phone followed instructions you wrote. If it errors, read the message. Copy the exact text and ask Grok: “Explain this like I have never coded.”
7. Ask for one tiny next exercise

You do not need the whole map tonight. You need one working hello, and the nerve to try again tomorrow.

If it breaks

Command not found. The tool is not installed, or the name is misspelled. Check the letters. Then install the tool.

Nano will not close. Ctrl+O, Enter, Ctrl+X.

Termux from Play Store. Uninstall it. Use F-Droid only. Same store for Termux and Termux:API.
