One screen. One button. Hello.

This page lives in the library so the words are not strangers in Stage 5. You do not need an IDE today. Tap the model. That is the whole trick of a first app.

A quiet screen.

Words you will meet

Activity — one screen of an app. The rectangle you just tapped lives inside one activity.

Layout — where buttons and text sit on that screen. Centered text plus one button is a layout.

Build — turn written code into an APK. When the build fails, read the last error line.

Why this waits

If opening Termux still makes you nervous, stay on Stage 3. A screen designer with fifty buttons will not calm that down. Make hello.py boring first.

Next installment

Kinds of code: shell, Python, JSON, Git-as-writing, and later Kotlin, Java, and HTML. Each writing system gets its own room.
